Epiphany Class (e.g.2006)
Age: 17
Current School: Belmont Hill School
1.The most important thing I want to acquire in a summer job is experience. The chance to work in a field that I want to pursue in the future is so important. I want to learn from individuals in the marketing and advertising world.
2.My greatest accomplishment is being a successful student at The Belmont Hill school. My college counselor told me that I had acquired honor roll status for my junior year and high honors for my first semester of my senior year. I feel my greatest accomplishment this year was truly finding my identity at my school. Freshman year, I had a great passion for my drawing class. In this class I could let go of all my frustration and just experiment. I feel I could use these drawing skills to help get my ideas across in the advertising world. After this class ended, it was not until junior year where I found a class where I was equally passionate. In my non-fiction writing course, I could reflect on all my past experiences in my life. In this class I really got in tune with my comedic talent. I really enjoyed captivating my eccentric teacher Mr.Zamore and my fellow classmates. In this class I wrote every other day and by the end of the semester, I had created a portfolio with stories I could cherish for the rest of my life. One of my dreams is to pursue a career in script writing. A great part of marketing and advertising would be to write for commercials for a specific product. In my club, the Students Actively Fostering Equality club, I opened up and graced my peers with my perspective on how I viewed diversity. I had the confidence to speak in front of my school and get my point across. In the end I feel did not just take classes here but instead I left a lasting influence.

4. My future employment interests lie in the business and the communications field. Specifically, I want to pursue marketing and advertising. I want to explore different aspects of marketing and advertising. I want to acquire some experience in these fields so I can head into college with great confidence. I’m interested in this type of profession because all throughout my life I never focused on being in the spotlight but how I attained that attention. Marketing and advertising is all about learning how to attain that attention for your company with creativity.
5. At my previous job, I worked with first through eighth graders at a church in my neighborhood during the summer. The purpose of the B-Safe program is to keep the kids of the inner city busy and energized during the summer. These children come from low-income families and this program offered daily field trips and a quality education at a low price. This previous employment experience taught me patience and cooperation. I was the counselor for the oldest group at the camp but their argumentative tendencies created many problems. The most difficult part of the job was maintaining balance with the kids. I fostered friendships but I made sure that they respected me. I also learned how to set boundaries with my co-workers in order to create a solid foundation for respect in the workplace.

4. Please specify your employment interests (e.g. business, education, technology, working with children, etc.). If you have multiple areas, be sure to list them all. Why are you interested in this area? My interest areas are education, psychology, and working with children.
Ever since I was young, I always felt the way we live, act and do things begins when we are younger, and as we get older it is hard to get out of these trends. As a result of that, I have always wanted to help shape and form kids younger than me because they are ultimately the controllers of the future. Keeping that in mind, if we want a brighter future, we must show our children not all is bad; bad things will happen, but we have to work to see what's positive in the world.
5. What skills and qualifications have you gained from previous employment?
My previous employments have given a vast knowledge on different aspects of life ranging from people skills, to self sufficiency, to doing everything necessary to get the job done. My previous employments have given the ability to work in various different jobs pertaining to several skills and still excel regardless of the situation.
